Mary Helen Ruthruff died Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Anthony Central Hospital in Denver. She was 67 years old. She was born in Leadville on May 1, 1939. Her parents were the late Joseph and Loretta (Mott) Kulcher.
Ruthruff went to school in Leadville, graduating from Leadville High School. On Aug. 2, 1958, she married Fred W. Ruthruff at Annunciation Church. Together they had four children.
Her most important and dearest occupation was that of wife, mother and grandmother. Ruthruff was never more content than when she was with her family. She was an avid and accomplished doll maker and also enjoyed all kinds of crafts including embroidery and crochet. She liked making candles and candy. She loved baking and cooking for her family, and she liked spending time gardening and playing with her dog, Napoleon.
A life-long member of Annunciation Catholic Church, Ruthruff also belonged to Catholic Daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary Isabelle Smith and a dear cousin, Chuck Carter. She is survived by her husband, Fred Ruthruff in Leadville; four children, Perry (Sandra) Ruthruff in Calhan, Colo., Sherry (Henry) Williams in Rush, Colo., Karey Bond in Grand Junction and Jerry Ruthruff in Leadville; grandchildren Loren (Stacey) Morland, Brittany and Morgan Morland, Glinda Sue and Justin Russell Ruthruff, Benjamin, Francis, Adam, Loretta and Amanda Williams, Kara Monique, Tanya Rae and Emily Sue Bond. She is also survived by her ex-son-in-law, Gerald Thomas Bond, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be recited on Wednesday, Jan. 31, at 7 p.m. by Barbara Williams, and Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, Feb. 1, at 11 a.m., both at Annunciation Catholic Church in Leadville. The Reverend R. William Rhinehart will officiate. Joan Dawson will sing accompanied by Jean Elliott.
Pallbearers will be Justin Ruthruff, Francis, Benjamin and Henry Williams, Ralph Pearce and Stephen Lani.
Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Wheat Ridge.
