BOCHATEY, Pauline Kasun


Pauline Kasun Bochatey passed away Dec. 29, at her home in South Lakewood. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Francis R. Bochatey; son Terrence (Penelope) Bochatey of Burke, Va.; granddaughter Thomaine Bochatey of Burke, Va.; granddaughter Rebecca Bochatey-Talbot and grandson-in-law Jeremie Talbot of San Francisco and granddaughter Melissa Bochatey of Los Angeles. Other survivors include nieces and nephews. Visitation and Rosary services were on Thursday, Jan. 4, with Mass of Christian Burial Friday, Jan. 5, at the Archdiocese of Denver Mortuary. Celebrants at the Christian burial service were Fr. Vincent Leo Smith, Fr. Michael Kerrigan and Fr. James Kane with interment in Mount Olivet Cemetery. A reception was held at a local facility. “Polly” and “Fran,” as the couple was known during their ownership and tenure operating the Herald Democrat from 1959 to July 27, 1986, were active in local celebrations, local affairs and public life. At that time, the Herald Democrat was a five-day afternoon newspaper with delivery by carrier. The Carbonate Chronicle was a weekly publication with a summary of the local events for out-of-area subscribers. They also owned and published The Summit County Journal from 1959 to 1965.
