Evelyn Jeanne Ponikvar, 85, of Reed City, Mich., passed away Tuesday, July 3, at Spectrum Health Hospital in Reed City. She was born Jan. 24, 1927, in Leadville to Edward Trevethan and Alice Sweeney and attended Leadville schools. On March 2, 1946, she was married in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leadville to Ludwig Ponikvar, who passed away Sept. 5, 1987. She was a resident of Leadville for 70 years and had been employed with the Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado for eight years before moving to Michigan in 1997. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her sons Ludwig (Teresa) Ponikvar and Frank (Jackie) Ponikvar of Colorado; daughters Rolonda (Lyle) Elliott of Arizona, Alice (Charles) Morrison of Colorado, and Deana (Mike) Horchner of Michigan; ten grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Ludwig Ponikvar, son Ronald Ponikvar, parents Edward and Alice Trevethan, five brothers and five sisters. Funeral services will be private.
