ENCKE , Doris M.

(Maiden Name: Beisel)

Doris, (almost 98 years) passed away at Mt St Francis Nursing Center into the arms of her beloved husband and the embrace of the Lord. She was born in Phila, Pa to Louis S. and Nellie E. Beisel. She grew up in Croydon, Pa the middle of 3 children. After graduation from high school Doris went on to hold various jobs to help support her family. One such job was in Torresdale, Pa inspecting fan belts for various machinery It was the Depression era and she worked 50 hours a week earning $7.50. She was so well respected at the factory that she was able to get family and friends jobs. She helped to employ her boyfriend, Herman K. Encke who eventually became her husband. After their early marriage years, Herman found a lucrative job in Norwalk Connecticut and he and Doris moved there. They subsequently had a son, Dr. Ted K and a daughter, Lynda V. After many years there they moved back to Pa where Dad started a business. Mom went to Pierce Business School in Phila and became Dad's secretary and accountant. Mom was a stellar mother that anyone wished they could have. She dearly loved her children as evidenced by her diligent support and encouragement. She was always teaching us about life and comforting us in times of disappointment. The bond that tied Mom and me together was stronger than can be imagined. I was successful in my life endeavors because of Mom's undying love and belief in me. She was a sweet, dignified woman who won the hearts of everyone with whom she came in contact. You would always find her caring and inspiring the other person, never drawing attention to her even if she was in discomfort. My admiration and love for her runs very deep. Mom...God may have you in "HIS" heaven but I will always have you in my heart forever. She is predeceased by her parents, a sister, a brother and her sweetheart, Herman to whom she was married for 67 years prior to his passing in 2001. Survivors include her loyal daughter, devoted and loving son-in-law (Richard Alexander) and son along with many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Mt St Francis who provided expert care to Mom. It was such a comfort to us knowing she was so well loved and respected. Donations in her memory can be made to The Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region, The American Red Cross or a charity of your choice.
