HUGGINS, Joshua Douglas

Joshua Douglas Huggins, 34, of Leadville, passed away peacefully at a friend’s home in Aurora on Thursday, Feb. 16, of melanoma cancer. He was born on April 14, 1977, in Shelby, N.C. Huggins worked as the night manager at Leadville Liquors for the last few years of his life. It was one of his favorite jobs. He loved the outdoors, skiing, snowmobiling, hiking and camping. He loved just hiking through the snow, digging out a hole and starting a fire. He always enjoyed just being outside and doing something fun. However, nothing made him happy like going fishing, especially when he caught a big one. Huggins is survived by his best friend and life partner Christina Neidhardt of Leadville; son Josiah Drake Huggins of Utah; mother Rhonda Huggins of Leadville; brothers Jeremy (Michelle) Huggins of North Carolina and Jason Huggins of Leadville; and his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of North Carolina. He was preceded in death by his biological mother, Margaret Estelle Parker; father Jeffrey Lynn Huggins; his paternal grandparents and his paternal aunt. A visitation was held on Sunday, Feb. 19, at Bailey-Kent Funeral Home, Leadville, with a memorial service following at the Leadville Eagles Lodge with Rev. Allison Lufkin officiating. A reception followed the memorial service at the Eagles Lodge. Additional services and burial will be in Caser, N.C. Any donations or contributions may be made to Bailey-Kent Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville and Cleveland Funeral Services of Shelby, N.C., are assisting the family with arrangements. 2012
