Carmelita Ann Gallegos, 74, of Denver since 1990, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21, in Denver. She was born April 19, 1937, to Louis and Porfidia (Mascarenas) Samora in Leadville. She married Maximinio Gallegos on Aug. 18, 1952, in Leadville. She attended Leadville High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed dancing, camping, music and bingo and loved spending time with her family. Gallegos is survived by her husband Maximinio Gallegos of Leadville; daughters Mary (Octavio) Madrid of Denver, Patsy Padilla of Leadville, Margie Valencia of Denver, Edna (Rosen) Gonzales of Gypsum, Juanita Gallegos of Leadville, Maxine (Louie) Arteaga of San Bernadino, Calif., and Lorraine Gallegos of Denver; sons Willie (Helen) Gallegos of Leadville and James (Maria) Gallegos of Castle Rock; 24 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Teresa Fernandez, Celina Mascaranez and Shirley Vasquez; brother Ricardo Samora and great-grandchild Matthew Martinez. A visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 27, from 4 to 6 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Leadville, with a rosary and vigil service to follow at 6 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Father Steve Parlet as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery with a reception to follow at Leadville Elks Lodge #236. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville is assisting the family with arrangements. 2012
