Raymond R. Byrne, 77, of Leadville since 1965, passed away at his residence on Feb. 20.
He was born on April 4, 1934, to Ben and Ann Byrne in Stratton. He married Carolyn L. (Pinamonti) Byrne on June 4, 1960, in Leadville.
Byrne served in the U.S. Navy and was a retired machinist and welder for the Climax Mine where he worked for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn Byrne of Leadville; daughters MaryAnn (Joe) Starr of Denver and April (Ralph) Ogden of Nathrop; sons Wayne (Andrea) Byrne of Leadville and Randy (Betty) Byrne of Leadville; grandchildren Brent Swango, Danielle Swango, Amanda (Jeff) Briggs, Dennis (Willow) Byrne, Jeanette Byrne, Rebecca Ogden, Faith Leibseit, Chris (Candice) Byrne and Joe Byrne; numerous great-grandchildren and brother John (Cora) Byrne of Leadville. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Rick Byrne.
A vigil and rosary service was held on Thursday, Feb. 23, at Annunciation Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Feb. 24, also at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Jesse Perez as celebrant.
Burial was at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville assisted the family with arrangements.
