EACKER, Carl D.


Carl D. Eacker, 80, of Penrose, died Monday, March 5. He was born in Merna, Nebr., on Sept. 6, 1931. Eacker served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked at the Climax Molybdenum Mine for 17 years. He was always fixing cars and loved doing it throughout his life. He taught the mechanic trade to his children, their children, and his great-grandchildren. Eacker enjoyed hunting, camping and, most of all, spending time with his large family. Eacker is survived by his wife, Helga; six children, Sonja (Dana) Stedman, Dale Eacker, Rose Eacker, Linda (Allen) Goerdt, Betty (Murl) Ryberg and Cindy (Marc) Heckenberg; 20 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Eacker; father, Eddie Eacker; and granddaughter, Tasheena McEwen. A memorial service was held Saturday, March 10, at the Holt Chapel of the Garden in Canon City.
