HATFIELD, Warren Gilbert


Warren Gilbert Hatfield, 90, passed away March 17 in Pueblo. He was born in Wellington on Jan. 18, 1922, to Monroe S. and Lillian A. (Bittner) Hatfield. Hatfield served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a sergeant in the 55th Squadron Air Depot Group. On July 27, 1979, he was united in marriage to Darlene Powell in Leadville. Hatfield worked at the Climax Molybdenum mine in Leadville for 33 years until his retirement, working his way up from an underground miner to a mine superintendent. He was a member of the V.F.W. and of the American Legion. His hobbies included antiquing with his wife, collecting vintage cars, woodcutting, attending auctions and tractor pulling. Hatfield enjoyed walks along the river, bike riding and spending time with his family. He loved the Colorado mountains and especially the Leadville area. He was said to be a very loving man. Hatfield is survived by his wife Darlene; children Tina (Dick) Evans, Tamy (Mike) Amicone and Tonya Lea (David Sr.) Masterson; grandchildren David Jr. (Jennylee) Masterson, Jennifer (Cody) Day, Shawnna Masterson, Rachel Evans, Heather Evans and Tim Lacy; great-grandchildren David Masterson III, Daniel Day, Alivia Day, Renae Day, Logan Vonderhellen and Abigayle Amsberry; brother Ronald; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to funeral service at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 22, at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Canon City. Arrangements handled through Holt Family Funeral Home.
