LAWRENCE, Keith David

Kevin David Lawrence died in March in a mine accident in Alma. He was born in Delta on July 2, 1960, to Mary Helen (Wendell) Edgeman of Leadville, who currently resides part time in Dade City, Fla., and Larry Arnold (Edna) Lawrence, of Kearny, Ariz. Other survivors include brothers Jeff (Diane) Lawrence of Clear Lake, Calif. and Brad Lawrence, Leadville; sisters Cynthia (Mark) Myers, Ogden, Utah, and Suzanne (Tim) Smith, Denver. Stepsiblings include Wendall Edgeman, Grand Junction; Paula Foltz, Fall Church, Va.; James and Darlene Hosea, Kearny, Ariz.; and Cheryl (Mike) Bilkie, Lake Havasu, Ariz. He is also survived by his uncle, Wallace Johnson, Buena Vista. His family said that growing up with Lawrence revealed the true artist, charmer and peacemaker that we all strive to be. His fortitude earned him a black belt, and his education earned him an associate’s degree. Lawrence traveled as much as he could, digging for gems and minerals. He is said to have wanted everyone to feel the excitement and fun of finding their own special rock in the world. He was always inviting someone new to take rock hunting. He was said to be very giving of himself and tried to take care of everyone he knew in any way he could. The mine that took him is an example, from the people he wanted to hire, to the friends and family he wanted to help with the profits. His family wants others to remember the charm, devotion and dedication of Lawrence who, they said, left them too soon. He will be missed by all who knew him, according to family. A memorial service will be held on March 31, at 2 p.m. at Mountain View Community Church, 3939 W. Florida Ave., Denver. 2012
