WAUGH,
George F. "Jeff"
George F. “Jeff” Waugh, 62, of Leadville, passed away on April 15 at the Denver Hospice in Denver.
Waugh was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Nov. 13, 1949. Raised and schooled in Nashua, N.H., he left home to pursue a career in air travel after college, hoping to see the world. He met his late wife Imy while both worked as flight attendants for United Airlines.
After marrying, the couple lived in Virginia before relocating to Imy Waugh’s home state of Colorado, where Jeff Waugh had always wanted to live. Upon settling in Leadville, Waugh left United to pursue full-time instruction of two of his best-loved hobbies, golf and skiing. He retired from both following his wife’s death in 2002.
In 2007, Waugh watched from behind home plate as his Red Sox clinched the World Series. He was also a member of the B.P.O. Elks in Leadville.
Waugh was survived by his daughters, Dana (Andrew) Strotheide, Lafayette, and Hanna Waugh, Greeley; brother, Greg Waugh, Gilford, N.H.; sister, Kathy Waugh, Nashua, N.H.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Waugh, and his wife, Imy.
A memorial service and reception will be held at noon on Saturday, April 21, at Elks Lodge #236, 123 W. 5th St., Leadville.
The family requests no flowers. Contributions and condolences may be sent to “Waugh Daughters Fund,” P.O. Box 545, Lafayette, CO 80026.
