Yvette Puhl, 45, passed away May 24 [2012] at her home in Craig. She was born Aug. 14, 1966, to Clinton and Pauline (Cuny) Mortensen in Livingston, Mont., the eighth of nine children. She was raised in and attended high school in Leadville. She then met Bill Puhl and the two were married at the 6th St. Assembly of God Church on June 12, 1982. Work took the newlyweds to Craig where their two children were born, Justin Michael and Stephanie Chantea. Puhl is said to have loved taking care of her family and was a wonderful homemaker. She had a passion for gardening and her yard proved it, winning an award for “most beautiful yard.” She also loved animals, working at a vet’s office for years. She enjoyed motorcycles and snowmobiles. It is said her happy smile and fun-loving manner touched all those around her. Puhl is survived by her husband, Bill Puhl of Craig; daughter Stephanie and grandchildren Harlan and Brodie of Craig; son Justin (Kristin) Puhl of Cedar City, Utah; sisters Jan Mortensen, Boardman, Ore., and Denice (Tim) Garcia, Leadville; brothers Dave (Tracy) Mortensen, Ogallala, Neb., Clifford (Veronica) Mortensen, Leadville, Chris (Hazel) Mortensen, Fairbanks, Ala., and Carl (Monica) Mortensen, Idaho Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Daniel and sister Julie. A celebration-of-life service was held in Craig at The Journey at First Baptist Church on May 28. [2012]
