MINER, Richard Allen


Richard Allen Miner, 79, of Leadville since 1957, passed away Friday, June 8, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born Sept. 14, 1932, in Fayette County, Iowa, to Clifford and Irma (Matthews) Miner. He married Patricia (Weaver) Miner on April 18, 1959, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leadville. They were married 53 years. Miner served in the U.S. Army for three years during the Korean War. He worked at Climax until 1962. He was also a carpenter, carpet layer and was in the glass business for a short time. He was a member of the Carpenter’s Local Union. Miner enjoyed horses and tinkering in his barn. He loved to make and fix things. Miner was survived by his wife Patricia Miner of Leadville; sisters Edna Blunck of Paradise, Calif., and Lorraine Eckert of Salisbury, Md.; children Debi Miner of Leadville, Denise (Walter) Wood of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Mike (Merlyne) Miner of Peoria, Ariz., and Kim Miner of Leadville; grandchildren Jennifer Duarte and Dennis Alps, Tiffany Corrdes, Nick (Dawn) Van Dyke, Kara Martinez and Jake Cooper, Heather (Calvin) Osborn and Christopher Miner; great-grandchildren Danika Alps, Hayden Van Dyke, Fayla and Kira Chiperfield, Madison Martinez and Kyle Cooper; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gene and Leo Miner. Services will be private. Bailey-Kent Funeral Home of Leadville is assisting the family with arrangements
