HARPER--On the C. & S. train, entering Boulder, Wednesday, July 18, 1901 of consumption, Ira J. Harper aged 42 years, 11 months and 22 days.
Mr. Harper and daughter, Miss Bertha, started June 24th for Kingston, Ill., finding his health running down, Mr. Harper concluded to return home. He was accompanied by his step-father, E. A. Thompson of Kingston.
Mr. Harper has been fighting the dread disease, consumption, for sixteen years. On the return trip they arrived almost to Boulder when Mr. Harper died from exhaustion. Some of his former attacks were accompanied with hemorrhage, but in this case it was simply weakness. Dr. J. B. Ralph, Inspector of contagious diseases of Omaha was with him when he died and came on to Longmont.
He leaves a wife and one daughter, the later being in Kingston, but has been telegraphed for.
Mr. Harper was a man who had many friends and no enemies, and was respected for his many fine qualities by all.
Date of the funeral is uncertain.
