BROWN--At Wm. Wilson’s ranch, the result of an accident Friday, October 21, 1898, Aaron Brown, aged 34 years.
Mr. Brown was working on a self-feeding thrashing machine belonging to Parks Brothers, which was at work on Wm. Wilson’s ranch, 9 miles east of Longmont. He was on top of the machine, assisting in separating the grain, which was a little wet, it being about 6 o’clock in the morning, when he fell into the cylinder. His right arm was torn to shreds, and his head fairly crushed in two parts, being otherwise badly torn. Of course he was killed instantly, and the machine was stopped.
The remains were taken to Bills & Co’s undertaking rooms, and for a time it was doubtful whether his relatives would be found. The right half of his coat was torn to pieces, but the lining to the pocket was left, which contained a letter by means of which his relatives were communicated with.
His home was Valparaiso, Indiana, which he left eight years ago, and where still reside his father, mother, sister and some brothers, and evidently other relatives.
The remains were embalmed by Mr. Bills, and expressed to Valparaiso Sunday, October 23rd.
