Estes, near Longmont, Tuesday, August 15, 1905, of apoplexy. Mrs. Mary Louise Estes, aged 63 years, 3 months and 11 days. Mrs. Estes was the wife of Milton Estes of El Paso, Texas, formerly of this vicinity, and at the time of her death was visiting at the home of her son. Mrs. Estes was born at Galena, Illinois, and came to Colorado in 1860 with her parents, and after she had resided her a year she was united in marriage to Milton Estes, who with five children survive her. The children are George Estes and Mrs. Belle Shoemaker of Denver, Chas. Estes of El Paso, Texas, Newton Estes of Lafayette, Colo., and E. J. Estes of Longmont. Mrs. Estes belonged to the class of pioneers that knew the hardships of the frontier life during the early settlement of Colorado. Mr. and Mrs. Estes lived for many years upon a ranch on the St. Vrain in the vicinity of the J. W. ?? (can’t read) ranch, and moved from there to Denver in 1890, afterward to El Paso, Texas. Mrs. Estes was one of the founders of the Pioneer Society and one of the active worker in that organization. The remains were taken to Denver Tuesday afternoon and the funeral services were held at 11 o’clock Thursday morning at the home of her son. Burial at Fairmont cemetery.
