CALKINS--At her home northeast of Longmont, Saturday, August 24, 1907, of melancholia, Mrs. Kate Boise Calkins, aged 60 years 9 months and 10 days.
Mrs. Calkins was born in Orange county, New York, November 14, 1846. Was married to C.C. Calkins December 24, 1868. They moved to Colorado with the Chicago Colorado Colony, which organized Longmont in 1871, and have resided in this vicinity since then.
Mrs. Calkins was a member of the Eastern Star and also of the Pleasure Club, and her papers to this social and literary organization are remembered with pleasure indeed.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Wm. Butler. The Order of Eastern Star and the Elks were out in good representation.
She leaves three sons, Herbert, Ben and Earnest, and one daughter, Mrs. E. J. Estes.
Herbert was in Salt Lake City and did not arrive until the funeral cortege had reached the cemetery.
