Robert Angelo "Bob" Cavalli, former Leadville resident, passed away on Nov. 7 at his home in Pueblo West. He was 57 years of age.
Cavalli was born to Patricia Olee and Alfred Cavalli on Sept. 28, 1953, in Leadville, where he grew up on the family ranch. Upon graduating from high school, he went to college and received a liberal-arts degree.
While attending college, Cavalli began working for the Lake County Sheriff's Department and continued employment there for five years. He then joined the Leadville Police Department and worked there for 16 years, eventually reaching the position of chief of police. He also served as a volunteer EMT for the Leadville St. Vincent General Hospital ambulance service for 17 years.
Cavalli was also a volunteer hunter-education instructor for 18 years. He then chose to go to work for the Colorado Department of Corrections in Limon and remained there for approximately nine years, reaching the position of lieutenant. Cavalli medically retired in 2003 because of heart and kidney failure.
Cavalli met and married Annie, the love of his life and his best friend, in Leadville, and they were happily married on Jan. 21, 1990, at Annunciation Catholic Church. He instantly became a father of two sons, Michael and Shawn Pollock. Eventually, he became the proud grandpa "Papa Bob" to Zoe Pollock, his precious granddaughter; two grandsons, Damian and Danny Arredondo; and one great-grandson, Danny Arredondo Jr.
Cavalli's interests included his love of animals, especially cats and dogs, ranching, hunting, reading western books, watching western and old murder-mystery movies, traveling and sightseeing, gardening, listening to country-western music and playing games on his computer.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge, the Eagles and the Knights of Columbus. Bob and Annie Cavalli also served as volunteers for many organizations, gladly giving their time to help wherever needed. They both served as board members for the Lake County Civic Center Association for many years, which included serving as board presidents; they were election judges for Lake, Lincoln and Pueblo Counties for several years; plus they were CPR instructors and taught classes while living in Lake and Lincoln counties.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Cavalli; his sons, Michael Pollock and Shawn (Jessica) Pollock; his granddaughter, Zoe Pollock; his two grandsons, Danny and Damian Arredondo; great-grandson, Danny Arredondo Jr.; sister, Janet Cavalli; brothers, Tom (Gelane) Cavalli, Patrick (Carrie) Cavalli and Mike (Heather) Cavalli; sister-in-law, Pam (Tony/deceased) Cavalli; several uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
