10/21/2010 10:31:00 AM Courtney James Garrison, Jr. Courtney James Garrison, Jr. passed away suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 13, at his home in Leadville. He was 37 years old. He was born on Jan. 3, 1973, in Champaign, Ill. His parents are Kathleen (Bergdoll) Garrison and Courtney J. Garrison. Garrison went to school in Denver, graduating from Pomona High School where he played football. He worked at the Denver airport before coming to the mountains where he settled in Eagle County in the early '90s and eventually moved to Leadville to be near family. On June 30, 2000, he married Marni Wight and together they had one son, James. Garrison worked as a prep cook chef in both Frisco and Leadville. He was an avid computer tech and loved NASCAR. He and his wife enjoyed bowling and were active in the bowling leagues in Leadville, and he enjoyed sharing these activities with his son James. Garrison was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Ruth Chang, his paternal grandfather Gary Garrison and aunt Nancy Garrison. He is survived by Marni Wight-Garrison and their son James in Leadville; his mother Kathy Garrison, Leadville; his father Courtney J. Garrison; his brother and sister, Danny and Becky; his maternal grandfather Richard Bergdoll; and paternal grandmother Collette Garrison. Memorial services are planned for Saturday. Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. at the Community Church of Leadville. Pastor Carey Green and The Reverend Dave Hanson will officiate. Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
