10/21/2010 10:32:00 AM Sarah A. Medina Sarah A. Medina Sarah A. Medina, 68, of Longmont, formerly of Leadville, died Oct. 15 at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was born on Aug. 20, 1942, in Center to Paul and Miquilita (Chavez) Maez. She married Andy Medina in Leadville on Oct. 27, 1961. They lived in Leadville until moving to Boulder in 1987, and to Longmont in 1990. She was a nurse at St. Vincent General Hospital for 20 years. She then worked at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Boulder and later at Frasier Meadows in Boulder. She retired in 2003. Medina was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Longmont, where she was a Stephen Minister. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters and Women of the Moose. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, watching Westerns on TV, sewing, cooking for her family on holidays, dancing and oldies. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Monica Rae; and her siblings, Tony, Pauline, Leo, Jake, Bernie and Joe. She is survived by her husband, Andy Medina, Longmont; her son, Tony (Roxann) Medina, Leadville; three daughters, Tina (Harvey) Lovato, Northglenn, Maria Medina and Andrea Medina, both of Longmont; four brothers, Robert (Eloyda) Maez, Paul (Nancy) Maez, Juan (Sharon) Maez and Richard (Rosemary) Maez; a sister, Charlotte (Tony) Padilla; sisters-in-law Burdell Maez and Sally Maez; five grandchildren, Paul (Jenny), Brandon, Jason, Christopher and Marissa; two great-grandchildren, Alana and Olivia and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation was held with Vigil Service on Monday, Oct. 18, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, Longmont. Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, Oct. 19, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Longmont. Cremation was to follow services at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. A second Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, Oct. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leadville.
