10/21/2010 10:34:00 AM Lewis A. Thompson Lewis A. Thompson, 60, of San Antonio, Texas, died Oct. 4. He was born June 19, 1950, in Seminole, Texas, to Melvin and Lula Mae (Tarver) Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Carol J. Thompson; daughter Jennifer C. Lasater; son-in-law Jason; grandchildren Logan, Ashton, Dalton, Liam and soon-to-be-born Blake Elora Lu; mother-in-law Catherine Olsen; brothers-in-law Dr. David (Lois) Olsen and Ken (Stephanie) Olsen of Lake County; brother Wes (Janice) Parker; numerous nieces and nephews and dogs Rose and Tex. Thompson moved from town to town during his childhood as his father worked in the oil fields. At age 15 he was on his own, taken in by a friend's parents. While attending high school in Leadville, he worked the swing shift, going to school during the day. He proposed to his high school sweetheart the day of their senior prom. Thompson proudly served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. Following his 20-year military career, he held numerous jobs that allowed him to make many friends, and he was currently employed as an environmental consultant for Landmark Aviation. His memberships included the San Antonio Rodders Hot Rod Club, Gruene Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club, American Legion Post #667 in Universal City and the Leadville Elks Lodge #236. He is said to have never met a stranger and was the first to lend a helping hand and a warm smile. Funeral service was held Sunday, Oct. 10, in Universal City, Texas, with a graveside service and interment with full military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on Oct. 11.
