Pine River Times News Bayfield, Colorado Estrellita Peña A lifelong resident of Arboles, Estrellita Peña died Feb. 16, 2008, after a 12-year battle with cancer. Mrs. Peña was born January 25, 1939 in Arboles, the daughter of Nestor Lopez and Lousita Garcia. In February of 1958, she married Joseph Baker Peña, and they had six children. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Angela and Preston Abeyta of Ignacio, Ernestine and Samual Maez of Tiffany, Trinidad and Amos Martinez of Allison; sons and daughters-in-law Mossimo and Shasta Peña, Bernard and Monica Peña and Kes Peña, all of Ignacio; brothers Tony Garcia of Delta, Joe Garcia of Pagosa Springs, and Joe Lopez of Globe, Ariz.; sister Bernie Lopez of Superior, Ariz.; her companion, Randy Fletcher; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchilren, numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends she called family. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1991, her son Melvin Peña in 1985, her sister Jane Tuck in 2003 and her sister Faye Romero in 2006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at St. Peter - St. Rosa Catholic Church in Arboles. Burial will occur at Rosa Cemetery in Arboles. Visitation was at Hood Mortuary Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008. Recitation of the Rosary was that evening.
