Shirley Alice Foster Graveside services for Cortez resident Shirley Alice Foster will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 13, at the Cortez Cemetery. Shirley was born Dec. 26, 1925, in Berkeley, Calif., to Allen and Helen May (Douglas) McGahan. She died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, at Aspen Gardens Assisted Living in Cortez. She was 78 years old. Shirley was a member of both the Cortez and the Elk Grove, Calif., communities. Playing bridge was a passion of hers and she belonged to several bridge clubs in California. Surviving Shirley are her two sons: Keith E. Foster and wife, Margie, of Durango, and Lester J. Foster of Albion, Wash., ; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband, James M. Foster; and one brother. Services are under the direction of the Ertel Funeral Home.
