Mary Lois Banks

Mary Banks, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, went to join her Savior peacefully with dignity at San Juan Regional Hospital with her children and grandchildren at her bedside on Friday, Jan. 30, 2004.
Mary was born in Olney, Texas, and moved to Cortez, Colo., at the age of 6. A long-time resident of Cortez, Mary worked in the District Attorney’s Office during the terms of Wade Dillon and George Buck. Mary relocated to Farmington in 1978. In December of 1999, Mary retired from her position as City Clerk to spend more time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Marti and Billy Spitzer of Dove Creek, Chuck and Kathy Banks of Farmington, and Buddy and Kati Banks of Dove Creek; grandchildren, Rikki and Vernon Knuckles, Brook and Dustin Ernst, Casey and Courtney Spitzer, TJ Spitzer, Breannan, Kori, Braiden, Kyli, and Amanda Banks; great-grandchildren, Tyler and MaKenzi Knuckles, and Hunter Ernst.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; grandson, Devon; and beloved sister-in-law and friend, Beverly Banks.
She will be sorely missed.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2004, at the Cortez Cemetery.
