Charles Fishcher.
Another old timer crossed the great range Sunday. Charles Fischer was a Kentuckian by birth, but being a true American he could not reside in comfort at the home place. There was too much territory west that had to be investigated and settled and like his forebears who crossed the Blue Ridge from Virginia and the Alleghanies from Pennsyivania to the “dark and bloody ground,” he too must cross the Mississippi and gaze on the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada.’
He was working for Leonard Burch on his ranch three miles north of Windsor and through near 70 years of age he showed many of the youngsters about him what a man could do, no matter what his age. His death was caused by gastro enteritis and the body was brought to Bills Bros. & Shirer’s undertaking rooms. The funeral was held from there Monday, and the remains were interred in Linn Grove.
