HOCKETT, Jackie R.

Jackie R. Hockett died at the home of his nephew and niece, Ralph and Shirley Taton, in Beaver, Okla., Dec. 20, 2006. He was born Dec. 28, 1936, to Mary Neit (Richardson) Hockett and Nathan Lester Hockett in Liberal, Kan. He and Verna (Makemson) Hockett were married Dec. 14, 1956. They had two daughters, Shelley Hockett Still of Buena Vista, and Keri Hockett of Greeley. He appreciated God in nature and enjoyed life most when he was working with his horses in the mountains. Survivors are his daughters; grandchildren, Holly and Jack Andrew Still of Buena Vista; brother, N.L. Hockett, Jr., Collinsville, Okla.; sisters, Alma (Sis) Brown, Pleasantville, Ohio; and Janice Drum, Beaver; and several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dora Blakemore, Havana, Kan. Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 23, 2006, at Banner Cemetery, rural, Sublette, Kan. Memorials have been established for the grandchildren's education fund or the donor's choice. Memorials may be mailed to Haskell County Funeral Home, Box 607, Sublette, KS 67877.
