Christopher Sanborn
John W. Sanborn has received word of the death of his father Christopher Sanborn at his home in New Hampton, N.H., at the ripe old age of almost one hundred years, he having been born in Stanbornton, N.H., Februray 18, 1803, to which place remains were taken and laid beside his wife. Until a few days before his death he had been well and hearty, being about his usual work, retaining all his faculties to a very remarkable degree.
“The death of New Hampton’s oldest citizen, Christopher Sanborn, occurred Thursday, October 16. He would have completed his 100th year next February. He was a member of the Baptist church in Sanbornton and took great interest in the church service and study of the bible. He kept an account of the number of times he read the bible through and to the best recollection of his friends it was not far from fifty times. He enjoyed good health up to within ten days of his death and no cause could be assigned for his rapid decline except extreme old age. The funeral services took place Sunday morning at the Free Baptist church, Rev. G.L. White officiating and the remains were taken to Sanbornton for burial”---- Laconia, N.H., Democrat.
