Abbott closed her eyes to earth’s scenes Saturday, August 24, after a journey of nearly eight-seven years along life’s uncertain pathway. Since the death of her husband, four years ago, she has made her home with her sons and daughters, and for the past year with her daughter, Mrs. M.P. Henderson, but just before Mr. And Mrs. Henderson started to the mountains less than two weeks ago, Mrs. Abbott went to Pueblo for a visit with her daughters, Mrs. A. A. McDonald and C. L. Abbott. She seemed in the best of health and spirits, and not a thought of that being the last paring crossed the mind of Mr. And Mrs. Henderson as they bade her good-by. She reached Pueblo in safety, and continued in good health until last Thursday when suddenly and without warning an attack called cerebral effusion, something like paralysis, came upon her. She never rallied, but lived until Saturday evening, when she quietly breathed her last, surrounded by as many of her family as could possibly reach her. The body was embalmed and sent to her home here, where it was received on Sunday evening. The funeral occurred Monday afternoon from the Henderson home, where man old friends gazed for the last time upon the peaceful face, so beautiful in the calm majesty of death. Rev. F. M. Shelden gave the funeral address, which was full of comfor and hope, and give fitting tribute to a life well spent. Adaline Chandler was born in Nicholsville, N.Y., Oct. 10, 1823, and was married to Philo Abbott Sept 1, 1842 She made several trip to Colorado, and finally in 1884 came and settled in Greeley. She was the mother of twelve children, six of whom still survive her; Miss C.E. Abbott and Mrs A. A. McDonald of Pueblo; W.P Abbott of Laramie, Wy., Mrs. G.R. McRoberts, Mrs. M.P. Henderson and E.H. Abbott of Greeley. Her only sister F. N. Chandler of Quincy, Ill was with her at the last. She was laid to rest in Linn Grove cemetery.
