Harvey Leonard Dunning
A sad accident occurred on Thursday afternoon, October 16, during the territorial fair being held at Albuquerque, when Leonard, the 10-year-old son of H. L. Dunning of the Citizen job department, was knocked down and fatally injured by a cab driven by a reckless driver while crossing the street near the fair grounds, the wheels of the vehicle passing over his shoulder and breast. He died the next day. Friday, about noon. In the excitement attending the accident the driver passed on as though nothing had happened, escaping detection. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon. Little Leonard would have been 10 years old in November. He was a bright and promising child. Mr. Dunning will be remembered as one of the publishers of the Tribune from 1885 to 1890, and has many friends in Greeley who will deeply sympathize with him and his family in their affliction.
