Calvin Tryon
As was noted in last week’s Tribune, the body of Calvin Tryon was found in a cornfield eight miles east of Hudson. It was supposed that death was caused by apoplexy. One evening last week as a section gang was going home on a car, the foreman saw a small bun of coyotes in Tryon’s cornfield and the owner’s dog appeared to be watching them. The next morning the men as they passed the cornfield again saw the coyotes and dog and curious to know what was the matter, they stopped and went over to see. On the ground was Calvin dead and being guarded by his faithful dog from the coyotes. In one hand was grasped a bunch of corn stalks and in the other hand was a corn cutter, indicating that death had been instantaneous.
Coroner Macy was notified and went to the spot, coming to Greeley late Wednesday afternoon with the body and he had it interred in Linn Grove shortly after reaching here, as decomposition had set in and the remains were in a bad state.
Calvin Tryon was about 75 years old and had resided in southern Weld county for years. He was a man well thought of by friends and neighbors for his honesty and genial nature.
