"Eugene "Gene" Bishop, 62, who served in the Air Force for 26 years and was a claims representative for the Social Security Administration for 13 years before retiring, died Jan. 10, 1994, at a Colorado Springs hospital.
"The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday [15 Jan. 1994] at Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church. 11020 Teachout Road, Black Forest, with the Rev. Frederick Lang officiating. A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at Swan-Law Cascade Chapel, 501 N. Cascade Ave. Burial will be at Eastonville Cemetery, Black Forest.
"Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
"Mr. Bishop was born Sept. 21, 1931, at the White Earth Indian Reservation, White Earth, Minn. to William and Florence (Frost) Bishop.
"He was married Dec. 25, 1951, in Tulsa, Okla., to Jackie [Jacqueline] (Bennett) who survives [d. 2002]. He also is survived by two daughters, Monica Swanson and Connie Atwood, both of Colorado Springs; two sisters, Lee Thompson and Frances Downen, both of Columbia Falls, Mont.; and four grandchildren. He had a brother, Clifford Docken, who is deceased.
"Mr. Bishop had lived in Black Forest since 1964 and was a member of Our Lady of the Pines Catholic Church and the Retired Enlisted Association.
"Memorial contributions may be made to the Penrose Hospital Radiation/Oncology Department, 2215 N. Cascaed Ave., Colorado Springs 80907."

The above clipping was found among a collection of family photos abandoned by neighbors who had moved. I did not know these people but I rescued the photos and other memorabilia which I am willing to release to a family member.
