Marilyn A. Meyer passed away in Denver on Thursday, March 12, at St. Anthony's Central Hospital, surrounded by family.
Meyer was born in Belvidere, Ill., on July 29, 1929. She married Edward Meyer on Oct. 15, 1949, and lived in Rockford, Ill.. until June 1961, when they moved to Twin Lakes.
They owned the Twin Lakes General Store and she was the postmaster of Twin Lakes until 1974, when they moved to Leadville. Meyer enjoyed living in Leadville until 1986, at which time she moved to Denver because of her husband's health.
Meyer was an avid bowler, loved to fish, read, work crossword puzzles and spend time with her family. All those who loved her enjoyed it when she spoke her mind.
Meyer was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Inez Ford, her husband Edward and son Edward Jr., a sister Barbara Jean Ford and a brother, Richard Ford. She is survived by two brothers, Raymond and Ronald Ford of Rockford, Ill., daughters Barb Brink and Rhonda (Glen) Renz of Leadville, Cindy (Darwin) Brug, of Kersey, Colo., and Paula Purdy of Littleton, and grandchildren Charlie (Denise) Brink of Greeley, Jenny (Mike) Gifford, of Leadville, Renee (Terry) Cheatum of Maui, Hawaii, Greg Renz of Leadville, Dean Rager II of Lafayette, Troy (Amy) Rager of Grand Junction, Fallon Purdy and Krista Purdy of Littleton, Christina Meyer of Texas, Antonie Meyer of Grand Junction and Alan (Summer) Meyer of CaƱon City. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family memorial service is planned for this summer.
