HIGGINS, Benny "Roy" Leroy

Thursday, January 11, 1968 - Yuma Pioneer Newspaper Death claimed the life of Roy Higgins at the Yuma Hospital on Tuesday, January 2, at the age of 55 years, 2 months and 10 days. He was the third son born to Carl and Martha Higgins at Matti County, Iowa, on October 23, 1912. His childhood days were spent on a farm near Redding, Iowa. In 1917 he moved with his parents to a homestead south of Yuma. He served with the Armed Forces in 1942. He was united in marriage to Clarabelle Gisis Benjamin and to this union seven children were born, Nellie Taladay of Sterling, Roberta Akers of Chicago, Illinois, Rosalie, Benny, Howard, Betty Lou and Billie, all of Yuma. He was preceded in death by his wife, Clarabelle, and his parents. Surviving are his children, five brothers, sisters, 12 grandchildren, a host of friends and other relatives. the funeral service was held January 5, at the Morris-Spellman Chapel with Rev. Frank Harvey officiating.
