Yampa Leader (Yampa, Routt County) June 6, 1913 1913 Jun 06 Page: 1 "OBITUARY The Late Ida Young Reid Rich in the beauty of her sweet and ripe spirit; rich in the highest qualities of womanhood, wife and friend, the late Mrs. Reid's place in the house and community is vacant. + + + Death lies on her, like an untimely frost Upon the sweetest flower of all the field. + + + That life is better Life, past fearing Death, Than that which lives to fear. + + + Lay her gently in the earth; And from her fair and unpoluted flesh, May sweetest violets spring. -Shakespeare + + + We weep to have to record the de- mise of one of the most respected, in- telligent and beloved members of this town and district, the late Mrs. Samuel C. Reid. Only a few days she was con- fined to her bed before the bright An- gel called her to a brighter home and fuller reward, for her faithful services. During the last four years she was a patient, uncomplaining and even happy sufferer, not ceasing to take an active interest in the affairs of the home and common good. She was born at Lancaster, Ohio, September 9th, 1848, and died June 2nd, 1913, at 1 a.m. She was married to our respected citizen, Mr. Samuel C. Reid, October 3rd, 1871, to whom she proved a loyal and loving wife. They removed to Florence, Ala., and there resided until 1880. They then removed to Breckenridge, Colo., for five years, and afterward settled on their homestead at Toponas(sp?), Colo. For the last twelve years they made their home at Yampa, where she was wond the highest esteem and love of everyone, and Mr. Reid has proved himself an upright and success- ful business man. All feel the keenest sorry owing to her departure, and join with us in sincere sympathy for our fellow citizen, her bereaved husband."
