Disa E. Meldrum
Disa E. Meldrum, 92, died April 1 at a Ft. Collins nursing home.
She was born in Toronto, Canada on Nov. 2, 1907 to George R. and Evelyn (Mercer) Rogers. She attended Moulton College in Toronto and received her Registered Nurse degree in Salida.
Early in her nursing career, she was a mining camp nurse and worked underground in the early 1930's in Tybo, Nev. But her nursing career was mostly spent as the Leadville Public Health Nurse from 1946 until her retirement in 1972. She also lived for a while in Berkeley, Calif.
In 1935 she married Blair Meldrum in Reno, Nev.
In 1987 she moved to Ft. Collins to be closer to family. She was a member of the Colorado Public Health Association and of the PEO Sisterhood and had been a long-time member of the First Presbyterian Church in Leadville. She enjoyed reading autobiographies, fishing and boating.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Blair Meldrum; brother Richard Rogers; and sister Eva Banovich.
She is survived by her daughter Jean (John) Richards, Ft. Collins; granddaughters Susan Emil, Littleton; and Robin Gale, Lakewood; grandson, Blair Richards, Chelsea, Ala.; great-grandchildren Lindsay and Cori Emil, John Gale, John Richards and Jacob Richards.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Leadville. Interment will be next to her husband in the Elk's Cemetery in Leadville.
