June V. Abel, 88, of Salida died Dec. 2, 2006, at Columbine Manor Care Center.
Born March 29, 1918, in Elkhart, Ind., she married Dale B. Campbell in 1935.
Ms. Abel was an interior decorator for many years, moving to Salida in the heart of the Rockies in the 1970s with her beloved poodles.
She immediately bonded with the community and its people and was determined to make Salida her home. She was active with Church of the Ascension in Salida, serving as secretary for many years under Fr. Ed Ruffey. She also worked as a certified nursing assistant at Columbine Manor Care Center.
Survivors are her daughter, Trude (Floyd) McClane of Astoria, Ore.; grandson, Matthew McClane of Seattle, Wash.; granddaughter, Erin (Dennis) Murphy and their children, Deven and McKenna Murphy of Yamhill, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Matt (Virginia) Ronzone of Elkhart, Ind. and Mrs. James (Jackie) Bowlby of Traverse City, Mich. and many nieces and nephews.
The memorial service will be at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 27, 2006, at Columbine Manor Care Center.
It is the desire of the family that remembrances be sent directly to Columbine Manor Care Center, 530 West 16th St., Salida, CO 81201, where a memorial will be dedicated in Ms. Abel's memory.
