TISCHER, Timothy Paul

Timothy Paul Tischer, long-time Salida resident, died Dec. 22, 2006, in Salida. He was born Sept. 2, 1946, in Chicago, Ill., to John F. and Rosemary (Daley) Tischer. His family moved to the Salida area in 1959, with the specific goal of a rural lifestyle allowing Tim to raise pets and livestock in the fresh mountain air. As a youth, he was an active member of the 4-H club and particularly enjoyed horses. Mr. Tischer graduated from Salida High School in 1964 and attended Western State College. He thrived in his career as an operator of large tower cranes, working on construction of many of the tallest buildings in downtown Denver. He loved to care for his quarter horses and registered Labrador dogs. He was a member of Local No. 9 Operating Engineers, the American Quarter Horse Association, the Colorado Cattlemen's Association and the Foundation of Quarter Horse Registry. He would want to be remembered as a horseman and breeder of registered quarter horses. Tim is survived by brothers Jack Tischer of Tempe, Ariz; Dennis (Toni) Tischer and Joseph (Cheryl) both of Salida and by adopted brothers, Craig Heideman of Madison, Wis. and Wayne Heideman of Denver; 14 nephews and nieces and eight grand nephews and nieces, living in many parts of the country from California to New York. He was close to many people through his quarter horse "family." He was preceded in death by his father, his mother and by an infant brother, Gary. An informal memorial gathering for friends and family will be held at 2 p.m. Jan. 14, 2007, at the American Legion Hut, 10th and H streets. Rather than flowers, donations are requested to Ark-Valley Humane Society, P.O. Box 1335, Buena Vista, CO, 81211. Mountain Mail Salida, Colorado
