Shirley Vane Cochran, 78, of Howard, died Jan. 3, 2007, at Columbine Manor Care Center.
She was born Aug. 6, 1928, in Cambridge, Md., to Linwood and Blanche C. (Vane) LeCompte.
She moved from Pennsylvania to Howard in 1980. She was a member of the Howard Historical Society, Ark-Valley Humane Society and Howard Ambulance Service (Ramrod).
She was past president of the Acres of Ireland Home Owners Association and was Queen of the Tattered Red Hatters of Howard. She was also involved with Holiday Park in Salida.
She is survived by a sister, Barbara LeCompte of Round Rock, Texas; nieces, Shirley Hartmann of Texas and Rebecca Snavely of Virginia; grandchildren, Kristi R. Cochran and Stephen L. Cochran; one great-grandchild and many friends through out the country.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Jan. 5, 2007, at the Howard Cemetery.
