DORE,
Cheryl M.
(Maiden Name: Morris)
Cheryl M. Dore died Wednesday, Dec. 27, at University of Colorado Hospital in Denver. Dore was 50 years old.
She was born in Poway, Calif., on Dec. 6, 1956. Her parents are Danny Morris and the late Alice (Crogan) Morris.
After graduating from Poway High School, Dore attended San Diego State University for two years before coming to Colorado.
She and Daniel Dore first came to Denver and then traveled up to Leadville where the annual Boom Days celebration was going on. As her husband tells it, that was enough to convince them Leadville was the place for them.
They were married on July 8, 1982, up at Ski Cooper and have lived here since. They had one daughter, Sarah, who is in high school in Leadville.
Dore had a class “A” truck driver’s license and together the Dores did long-haul trucking all over the U.S. and Canada. They mainly hauled beef and heavy equipment.
After years of trucking they established the River Ridge Upholstery business doing furniture, auto and marine upholstery.
Dore loved to cook and spend time with her husband, daughter and friends. She and her husband would occasionally enjoy a fishing trip. She especially loved their family vacations.
Dore was preceded in death by her mother Alice Morris. She is survived by her husband Dan and daughter Sarah Catherine, both in Leadville; her father Danny Morris, in Oceanside, Calif.; two brothers, Tom (Ellen) Morris and Don Morris, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Leadville Elks Lodge. The Reverend Alison Bucklin will officiate with some memories from family friend, Earl Boeve. Honorary pallbearers will be Jill Dzubay, Susan Houghton, Robin Deister and Perri Morris. Services will conclude at the lodge with a reception to follow.
Arrangements are being handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
