DEULEN, Patricia Ann

Patricia Ann Deulen, born March 13, 1935, passed away on Nov. 10, with her family at her side. Her family moved to Climax around 1945 or 1946. She graduated from Climax High School in 1953. On Feb. 18, 1956, she married Richard E. Deulen. Their three children were born in the old St. Vincent’s Hospital. All three children graduated from Lake County High School. Deulen loved living in the mountains; fishing and camping were particular favorites. “ Let’s go fishing,” she’d say. Her hobbies included quilting, crocheting, knitting and other crafts. For many years she traveled with her friend Norma Skala to quilting and sewing events. Deulen was a member of the Eastern Star Colorado Chapter 2 in Leadville for more than 49 years. She enjoyed traveling all over the state and also out of state with her good friend Reta Lou Heinricy for Eastern Star functions. Deulen was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church in Leadville. Deulen was a bus driver for the Lake County School District for 30 years. She also drove the bus for Elder Hostel and the senior citizens. She delivered thousands of children safely every year. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Deulen is survived by her husband in Leadville; sons, Michael (Cindy) Deulen of Pueblo West and Mark (Lisa) Deulen of Windsor; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Tafoya of Garfield, N.J.; brothers, Charles (Rhea) Kness of Grand Junction and Jimmy John Kness of Loveland; sister, Betty Jean Held of Allentown, Pa.; grandchildren, Corinna (Brent) Mills, Renee Walker, Matthew (Ashlie) Walker, Juanita (John) McCoy, Michael (Jill) Deulen, Justin (Amanda) Deulen, James (Priscilla) Deulen; great-grandchildren, Markus Walker, Dillon Faust and Isabella Marie Deulen; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Deulen was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Deulen Kness, and her sister Jenny Lambert and brother-in-law J. B. Lambert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Dessie M.
