MARTINEZ, Claudio J.

Claudio J. Martinez, 82, Salida, died Oct. 12, 2006, at the Cheyenne Mountain Care Center in Colorado Springs. Mr. Martinez was born July 7, 1924, in Cerro, N.M. to Antonio and Tranquilina Martinez. Many years ago, he worked in construction on the N.O.R.A.D. project on Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado Springs. He was a former rancher. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved old cars, doing yard work in his later years and spending time with his family. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and a member of Los Amigos Club. Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife, Lucy Martinez of Salida; sons, Frank (Debbie) Martinez of Colorado Springs, Tony (Prescides) Martinez of Taos, N.M., Claude Martinez Jr. of Colorado Springs, Elias (Nelda) Martinez of Greeley and Leonard Martinez of Colorado Springs; daughters, Cecelia (Jerry) Garcia of Center, Della (Walter) Lovato of Colorado Springs and Wanda Martinez of Colorado Springs; step-daughter, Linda (Jim) Deluca of Salida; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Patrick Martinez and Larry Martinez; and sister, Nettie Hernandez. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 16, 2006, at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Oct. 17, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Martinez family or Angel of Shavano Hospice through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
