HALL, Cecil F.


Cecil F. Hall, 82, a longtime Saguache resident, died Sept. 14, 2006, at his home where he was undergoing hospice care. He was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Saguache to Sidney B. and Ida R. Burch Hall, and married Sarah Jane Graves March 23, 1951, in Saguache. Mr. Hall was assistant postmaster in Saguache 8-1/2 years and then was a self-employed painter and carpenter for many years in Montrose, Fort Collins and Saguache. He served in the 45th Division, U.S. Army during World War II and saw action in North Africa, Italy, France and Germany. He was a member of Garcia Post No. 110, American Legion for more than 60 years. Mr. Hall was active in many local organizations including one term as Saguache County Commissioner, Saguache Town Board, Friends of Saguache County Library, Saguache Cemetery Association and the Saguache Methodist Church. Survivors are his wife, Sarah J. Hall, who lives at Columbine Manor Nursing Home, Salida; his daughter, Nancy A. (Jim) Welker of Weldona; his son, Sidney B. (Becky) Hall of Saguache and five grandchildren, Marie E. (Desmond) Yap of Fort Collins, Jonathan E. Welker of Clinton, Mont.; Brenda M. (Justin) Thornton of Brush, Thomas B. Hall of Fort Collins and William F. Hall of Saguache and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Charles E. Hall. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sept. 30, 2006, at Mountain Valley School in Saguache and a military service will follow at Hillside Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the George E.
