Dr. Fred Elijah
Dr. Fred Elijah Brown, 80, of Maysville, died Sept. 24, 2006, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 2, 1926, in Lancaster, Kan., to Fred E. and Mary Teresa (Laris) Brown.
Dr. Brown was a physician in St. Marys, Kan., for 34 years. He attended medical school at Kansas University. In 1972, he was elected a charter fellow in the American Academy of Family Practice.
He also served as a preceptor to medical students from K.U. for many years. He retired in 1989 and he and his wife moved to Maysville.
Dr. Brown served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was discharged as a Sgt. Maj. in Patton's Third Army. From 1964-68, he was a Captain in the Medical Corps with the Army National Guard.
He was a member of Chaffee County Crime Stoppers, St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the RCIA Team.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Brown of Maysville; son, Fred (Rose) Brown of Wamego, Kan.; grandchildren, Todd (Kelly) Brown and Toby (Kourtney) Brown all of Rossville, Kan.; great-grandchildren, Kristin Brown of Rossville, Rachelle Brown of Topeka, Kan., Dylan Brown of Rossville and Halie Brown of Rossville; brother-in-law, Gene (Mary) Grillot of Maysville and niece, Dr. Suzanne (Rob) Elton of Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Sept. 29, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
