Rev. Robert L. Morgan died Sept. 27, 2006, in Cheyenne, Wyo.
He was a former pastor of First United Methodist Church in Salida - his last pastorate before his 1992 retirement.
Rev. Morgan was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Spearman, Texas. He grew up in Texas and eastern Colorado and graduated from high school at Walden.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the American, Central American and Pacific Theaters during the war.
After military service, he attended college at Nebraska Wesleyan University and began a teaching and school administration career in Fowler. During that time he answered his call to the ministry.
Rev. Morgan served parishes in Paoli-Wages, Sterling, Brush and Cortez in addition to Salida. He also served at churches in Newcastle, Rawlins and Casper, Wyo., before retiring in Casper.
Rev. Morgan enjoyed hunting, playing golf, gardening, refinishing antique furniture and attending Wyoming Cowboy football games. His main enjoyment and source of pride was spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Johnna of Cheyenne; four sons, Terry of Laramie, Wyo., Max and Ken of Cheyenne and John of Katy, Texas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, J. Paul and Pokie.
Funeral services will be held at the Oregon Trail National Cemetery in Casper, Wyo., and a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 6, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Casper, Wyo.
Memorial remembrances can be made to the United Methodist Committee on Relief or to a charity of choice.
