ALICE GRACE SCHULTE-CHEESEMAN, 83 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Alice Grace Schul-te-Cheeseman, 83, of Colorado Springs and formerly of Galena, Ill., passed away Thursday, July 5, 2007, in Pikes Peak Care Center. She was born Dec. 28, 1923, in Jo Daviess County, Ill., to Edmund and Grace (Sweeny) Schulte. Alice grew up in Galena and graduated from Galena High School. She continued her education throughout her life, earning a baccalaureate degree from the University of Wisconsin, a master's degree from Northern Illinois University, and advanced studies at the University of Mexico and University of Redlands. Alice was a teacher for 39 years in Illinois and California. Alice was married for a brief time to C.K. Cheeseman. Alice resided in Colorado Springs since 1989, was a feminist who volunteered for several organizations and was a member of NOW. Alice liked to work in her yard, go out to eat and after retiring from teaching swore not to get up early or wear a dress anymore. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. "Go ask Alice, I think she'll know." She is survived by a son, William (Kathy) Cheeseman of Colorado Springs; and grandson, Jack (Kim) Cheeseman of Dillon. Graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Galena. Friends may gather after 10 a.m. Monday in Furlong Funeral Cha-pel, Galena.
