Evelyn Mae Johnson, 76, long time Salida resident, died Oct. 2, 2006, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 10, 1930, in Battle Creek, Mich., to Ernest and Lucile (Conner) West.
Mrs. Johnson and her late husband, Joseph Johnson, moved to Salida in 1962 from Lamar. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and once was a Girl Scout leader. Her interests included gardening, reading and swimming.
Survivors are her sons, George (Pat) Johnson of Tennessee, Sam (Jane) Johnson of Salida, Harold (Marti) Johnson of Denver and James (Eileen) Johnson of CaƱon City; daughters, Laura (Robert) Roybal of Red Cloud, Neb., and Edna Johnson of Salt Lake City, Utah; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Joseph Johnson, and brother, Wendell West.
Private interment will take place at a later date.
