ALIRES, Christopher Randy


Christopher Randy Alires died suddenly, Thursday, Oct. 5, at St. Anthony North Hospital in Westminster. He was 40 years old. He was born in Antonito, Colo., on Jan. 29, 1966. His parents are Charles R. Alires and the late Lucy A. Sandoval Alires. Randy, as he was known, went to first grade in Antonito and then the family moved to Leadville where he graduated from Lake County High School. Alires then served his country in the United States Army. Following his return from the service, he went to work as a construction worker. Alires enjoyed fishing, hunting and riding his motorcycle, and he also loved watching football, especially the Broncos. But his greatest pleasure was spending time with his sons and new granddaughter. Alires was preceded in death by his mother Lucy Alires; step-mother Minnie Alires; and his brother Carl Alires. He is survived by his sons, Randy Wilford Alires and Steven Anthony Alires, both in Westminster; his father Charles Alires in Grand Junction, and his granddaughter, Angelina Danine Alires in Westminster. He is also survived by three sisters, Roberta (Billy) Sandoval, Joanne and Lucy May Sandoval, as well as numerous uncles, aunts and cousins. The Rosary was recited on Monday, Oct. 9, and Mass of Christian Burial was Tuesday, Oct. 10. Father Bill Rhinehart officiated, and Joan Dawson sang, accompanied by Beverly Pologar. Alires was laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery with committal services by the Buena Vista V.F.W. Post #55. Pallbearers were Nicholas Abeyta, Lawrence Alires, Meryl and Paul Dohrmann, Matthew and Raymond Gallegos, Tommy Jaramillo and William Farmer. Following the interment, the family received friends at a reception at the Eagles Lodge. Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home. Copyright Herald Democrat
